What Is Pro-Nox?
Pro-Nox is a self-administered pain management system. This new technology combines a safe mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen, and allows the patient to be in full control of their usage, throughout the duration of their procedure.
How Does Pro-Nox Work?
Patients inhale the mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen, prior to the beginning of their procedure. The oxygen will allow the patient to breathe normally while the nitrous oxide works to dull the pain receptors of the brain and produce feelings of relaxation. If the patient begins to feel any discomfort or anxiety, they will let their surgeon know, and will inhale the mixture again. This process continues until the procedure is complete.
Is Pro-Nox Safe?
Yes. The 50/50 mix of oxygen and nitrous oxide has been used for decades in other fields of medicine like ENT and labor and delivery. This is an analgesic not anesthesia meaning there is no loss of consciousness or physical sensation just the relief of pain. Furthermore, there are visual and auditory alarms in place as an additional safety precaution. Lastly, the state of the art valve filtration system offers superior infection control to other practices.
What Can I Expect With Pro-Nox Recovery?
The recovery process is extremely easy on the patient. Unlike other forms of pain relief, that require precautions and limitations after their use, Pro-Nox clears from the patient’s system within several minutes. At this point, the patient is free to leave the office, and it is completely safe for them to drive a vehicle.
