What is Sculptra?Â
Sculptra is an FDA-approved injectable that rejuvenates collagen among cheeks and smile lines by addressing multiple underlying causes of aging. While collagen creams merely treat the upper dermis, and toxin injectables last for a matter of months, Sculptra can last up to 2 years.Â
What is the active ingredient in Sculptra?Â
As a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) collagen stimulator, Sculptra helps restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. This injectable works with your body within the deep dermis to help revitalize collagen production and help restore your skin’s inner structure and volume. As the PLLA microparticles are absorbed, they help stimulate collagen production. Rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to wrinkles and folds.Â

What can I expect from my treatment?Â
Firstly, your medical provider may use a topical anesthetic to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Then, your specialist will inject into the appropriate dermal plane where strands of collagen support your skin’s structure. Any swelling that may occur after treatments usually subsides within a few days, and the wrinkles will temporarily reappear as the gradual process of collagen replacement continues. Cold packs, facial massages, and avoiding sunlight are all methods to promote healing after your initial procedure. You may begin to see progressive, visible results within the first few weeks after each treatment session.
Over time, Sculptra helps the body reproduce lost collagen. The number of appointments and the number of injections per appointment vary depending on how much collagen has been lost. On average, we recommend three injection appointments over a period of a few months.Â
