A BBL is a specialized fat transfer that enhances the contour and size of the buttocks without implants. Excess fat is removed from the hips, low back, abdomen, or thighs and strategically injected into the buttocks. This procedure is a safer, more natural alternative to implants, but is not a traditional “lift”.
Who is a good candidate for a BBL Fat Transfer?
A consistent workout routine and eating healthy can help you feel your best physically, but the size and shape of your buttocks is mostly dependent on genetic and skeletal factors. The most common reasons for getting a BBL are to visually balance the upper and lower body, reduce fat pockets on the hips, fit better into clothing, or simply add fullness. The best candidates have a good skin tone and are close to their goal weight but have enough fat to harvest and transplant. If you are looking to for a fuller or shapelier bottom-half, a Brazilian Butt Lift, may be a good fit for you. BBL’s aim is to plump existing tissue and do not address sagging skin; for that, you may be a better candidate for surgery.
BBL surgery has gained a reputation for being a high-risk procedure, so it is crucial to choose a qualified and experienced surgeon. In the interest of patient safety, our surgeons offer BBL’s but not implants as they have a higher chance of infection or allergic reaction. *
What should I expect from my BBL procedure?
Excess fat is removed from the hips, low back, abdomen, or thighs through liposuction and purified. Then, the fat cells are strategically injected into the buttocks to smooth or reshape as desired. Your surgeon may inject more than necessary in the event that some of the fat may not take or reabsorb over the course of the next few months.
What should I expect with my recovery?
After surgery, you will likely be able to return to work after two weeks but will have to avoid sitting directly on your glutes for several weeks. Final results are visible after about 6 months as a portion of fat is naturally absorbed during the healing process. It is important to remember that transferred fat cells will behave like preexisting cells in your body which are vulnerable to weight gain and loss. As with any surgical procedure, maintaining a healthy lifestyle creates long lasting results.
