It is somewhat rare that the occupation that fascinates someone in their youth translates into a lifelong profession; but, when Dr. Tucker put on a stethoscope at approximately the age of five, he never took it off. When he began his rotation at medical school, he was always fascinated with surgery. But, when it came time for a plastic surgery rotation, the creative aspect of working with each individual patient, whether reconstruction or aesthetic, combined his already artistic nature with the opportunity to practice great medicine. There was no turning back. The little boy with the stethoscope evolved into the gifted surgeon.
Hampton A. Howell, M.D.

Although his studies and educational pursuits took him out of the state for a period of time, Dr. Howell is proud to call North Carolina home, having grown up in High Point, North Carolina. He graduated magna cum laude from Virginia Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and went on to receive his Medical Doctorate degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where he met his lovely wife, Jennifer. A move to Grand Rapids, Michigan allowed Dr. Howell to complete both his general surgery and formal plastic surgery training at the Grand Rapids/Michigan State University program. During his last year there, he was a Chief Resident in plastic surgery. Acceptance into the selective New York Eye and Ear Infirmary aesthetic fellowship in New York City necessitated a move to Manhattan where Dr. Howell trained with many leaders in the field of cosmetic surgery. But, the Howell family was excited to move back home to North Carolina when Dr. Howell joined Salem Plastic Surgery in Winston-Salem in 2006.
Kelsey M. Lloyd, M.D.
Dr. Kelsey Lloyd is a board-eligible plastic surgeon who brings a thoughtful blend of artistic vision, technical precision, and compassionate care to Salem Plastic Surgery. A Pennsylvania native, Dr. Lloyd discovered her love for creativity early through painting and the visual arts—an interest that continues to shape her approach to plastic surgery, where she sees each patient’s care as both a technical and artistic endeavor.
Dr. Lloyd earned her undergraduate degree in Human Biology from Stanford University, where she was also a four-year varsity field hockey player. She went on to receive her Doctor of Medicine from Penn State College of Medicine, followed by a highly competitive six-year Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Her training encompassed the full spectrum of plastic and reconstructive surgery, including cosmetic procedures, breast reconstruction, microsurgery, facial rejuvenation, and body contouring.
